Mike Horan is the Owner and CEO of Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC, based in Venice, Florida. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University, which he earned in 1975. Mike is a Registered Professional Engineer in Florida and carries certifications as a Florida Class "A" contractor and a Florida Underground Contractor. He has held significant leadership positions, including Chairman of the Florida Transportation Builders Association and President of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
In 1976, Mike started his career at Ajax Paving Industries, Inc. in Jackson, Michigan, working as an Estimator and Field Engineer. By 1978, he had progressed to the role of Area Manager in the Brighton/Ann Arbor, Michigan Division. In 1981, he seized the opportunity to establish a new company in Florida. From humble beginnings, the company has grown substantially and now employs over 600 individuals. It operates eight high-capacity asphalt plants, quarries, recycling operations, and offers services in paving, grading, concrete, and underground construction.
Throughout his 50-year career, Mike has amassed extensive experience in structural, civil, geotechnical, and materials engineering projects. His expertise in asphalt materials, laydown, and manufacturing has enabled him to successfully deliver projects ranging from single and multilane highways to airports, large-scale subdivisions, and parking lots. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida has earned a well-respected reputation and has been selected as the preferred contractor for notable Design-Build Projects in the state. Recently, the company demonstrated its capabilities by reconstructing the Sanibel and Pine Island access routes damaged during Hurricane Ian. Ajax operates across 18 counties, serving Southwest Florida from north of Tampa to Naples, as well as Central Florida.

Vince Hafeli is the President of Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. With 40 years of experience in the construction industry, he has held various positions and currently leads a team of 600+ employees dedicated to the company's success.
Apart from his professional achievements, Vince is nearing completion of his Doctorate of Business Administration, focusing on addressing suicide within the construction industry. He is a highly sought-after speaker, having delivered impactful talks at renowned events such as TEDx and various universities. Vince actively participates in webinars, podcasts, and industry trade association conventions, sharing his valuable insights.
Vince's construction career began in Geo-technical and Materials roles, collaborating with consultants and the Florida Department of Transportation. For the past 20 years, he has focused on the Contractor side of the industry, making significant contributions to Ajax's growth. With prior experience as the Quality Control Manager and Vice President of Plants and Materials, Vince played pivotal roles in ensuring the company's success for 16 years.

Andy DeCraene is a seasoned senior-level manager with over 25 years of construction experience. He graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Construction Management, which laid the foundation for his successful career. Currently serving as the Executive Vice President at Ajax Paving Industries of FL LLC, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills by assembling a high-performing management team that has excelled under his guidance. Andy's ability to understand and influence people has been instrumental in developing talented Project Managers and Supervisors who play vital roles in the company's operations.
Andy's dedication to making a difference extends beyond the construction industry. He is a board member of The Dave Fons Memorial Fund, a non-profit foundation focused on truck safety advocacy. With a loving wife and two children, Andy prides himself on maintaining an active outdoor lifestyle. Fishing, hiking, and hunting are central to his personal time, creating cherished family experiences.
His core values of accountability, family, trust, and commitment have shaped his approach to both personal and professional life. Andy takes responsibility for his actions and strives to foster trust among his family and associates. Scott Pittman serves as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs for Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. A Professional Engineer and longtime member of the Ajax team, Scott brings three decades of experience in transportation construction, engineering, business development, and industry advocacy.
In his current role, Scott leads Ajax’s Design-Build pursuits, marketing strategy, government affairs and community outreach efforts. He works closely with public agencies, elected officials, industry partners, and local communities to help advance transportation priorities across Florida.
Scott is actively involved in several transportation and construction industry organizations. He served ten years on the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) board, was Chairman in 2023-2024, and helped create the FTBA’s Young Leadership Group. He also remains engaged with the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), Floridians for Better Transportation (FBT), the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout his career, Scott has helped strengthen Ajax’s presence in the transportation industry by building relationships, supporting innovative project delivery, and promoting career opportunities in asphalt and heavy highway construction. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to the people, partnerships, and infrastructure that keep Florida moving.
Scott earned his Master of Engineering degree from the University of Florida and is a licensed Professional Engineer.

Ryan Fulmer is the Chief Financial Officer at Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. In his role Ryan oversees all financial functions at the company, including accounting, audit, treasury, budgeting, and insurance risk management. With over 20 years of diverse experience in financial management, construction, business leadership, banking, and public accounting, he brings a wealth of expertise to Ajax.
Before joining the A-Team in 2019, Ryan served as the Regional Director of Finance at Taylor Morrison Homes, one of the top 10 residential homebuilders. Prior to that, he gained valuable experience in audit and assurance with CliftonLarsonAllen, a leading public accounting firm, and also worked in retail banking at Bank of America.
Ryan earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida, Muma College of Business. He holds a Certified Public Accountants license in the state of Florida and actively participates in professional organizations, including the FICPA (Florida Institute of CPAs) and CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association).


Nathan Hassler, P.E. is a Regional Vice President at Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, where he leads operations across Southwest Florida with a hands-on, team-first approach. Over the past 13+ years with Ajax, he has worked his way up from the field as a Superintendent to executive leadership, building a reputation for practical problem solving and a deep understanding of construction operations.
Nathan is passionate about developing strong teams, delivering high-quality projects, and creating an environment where people take pride in their work. With extensive experience in FDOT projects, design-build delivery, and complex infrastructure work, he focuses on aligning planning, people, and execution to drive consistent, successful results for clients and communities.


Matt Desotell is an accomplished professional currently serving as the Regional Vice President - Fort Myers at Ajax Paving Industries of FL, LLC. With a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2010, Matt's solid education is complemented by substantial training and hands-on expertise.
Since March 2011, Matt has been an integral part of our A-Team. His remarkable background as a Project Manager and Area Manager showcases his successful oversight of both government and private sector projects. Matt's responsibilities span budget management, project scheduling, innovative problem-solving, and ensuring seamless project closure.
Dedicatedly aligned with influential industry associations, Matt holds affiliations with the American Society of Civil Engineers, Florida Transportation Builders Association, National Asphalt Pavement Association, and Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.

Joe Minich is a seasoned professional, currently serving as the Regional Vice President in Tampa for Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University in 2002, laying a strong foundation for his career.
Joe's commitment to growth is evident through his training, including certifications in Asphalt Paving Levels I & II, DEP Stormwater NPDES, and Primavera Scheduling Software. His expertise spans Construction Management, Operations, Estimating, and Scheduling.
An active member of the Florida Transportation Builders Association, Joe contributes to industry development. His journey with Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC started in January 2002, reflecting his steadfast dedication to the company's mission.

Mickey Cox is the Vice President of Plants and Materials at Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. He oversees Asphalt plant operations, ensuring smooth efficiency by guiding plant foremen, laboratory technicians, and operations.
With expertise in Estimating & Scheduling, Project Management, and Plant Management, Mickey greatly enriches the industry. He's an active member of the Florida Transportation Builders Association and holds the Florida DEP Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector title.
Mickey earned an A.A. degree from Snow College in 1993. He's committed to professional growth, evident through certifications in Asphalt Plant Levels I & II, Quality Control Management, Safety Training, and more.
Since September 2002, Mickey has dedicated himself to Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. He previously contributed notably during his 12-year tenure at Cox Rock Products, Inc. Mickey's extensive experience and commitment continue to drive progress in the field.


Felipe Jaramillo brings 23 years of experience in transportation-focused infrastructure construction and currently serves as Ajax Paving’s Vice President of Engineering / Alternative Delivery. In this role, Felipe manages all forms of alternative delivery contracts, including Design-Build, Phased Design-Build, Modified Phased Design-Build, P3, CM/GC, and value engineering efforts. Felipe is a Professional Engineer in Florida, nationally certified design-build professional and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
